Floors, Walls and Soundproofing Package

Wall assemblies, sound control and flooring handled as one scope, so the noise treatment is built into the wall rather than added to it afterwards.

What the job had to solve

Sound control only works if it is continuous. Treat the walls but leave the floor, or seal the assembly but leave the outlets open, and the noise finds the gap. It has to be planned as one package before the board goes on.

Work performed

  • Framing and sound-rated wall assemblies
  • Sealed perimeters, outlets and penetrations
  • Drywall hang, tape and finish
  • Flooring installed over a prepared subfloor
  • Base and trim
  • Prime and finish paint

How the work ran

  1. 1Decide what level of sound control the room actually needs before choosing the assembly.
  2. 2Build the walls as a system, sealing every penetration as it is made.
  3. 3Hang and finish the drywall.
  4. 4Prep the subfloor and lay the flooring.
  5. 5Trim, paint and check the room with the door closed.

The result

A quieter room with finished walls and floors, done in one pass instead of three separate visits.
