Walk-In Shower Tile and Bathroom Remodel
A walk-in shower tiled in subway with an accent band and a penny-round pan, with a grab bar set into real blocking and a new vanity alongside.
What the job had to solve
A shower is the one place in a house where a small mistake becomes a leak inside the wall. Waterproofing, slope to the drain and blocking behind the grab bar all have to be right before the first tile goes on, and none of it can be inspected afterwards.

- Demolition back to studs in the wet area

- Shower pan set and sloped to the drain
- Subway tile with a glass accent band, and a penny-round mosaic pan and floor

How the work ran
- 1Strip the wet area back to studs so the substrate can be seen.
- 2Add blocking wherever anything will be gripped or leaned on later.
- 3Waterproof the enclosure and set the pan with a true slope to the drain.
- 4Tile the walls and pan, then grout and seal.
- 5Set the valve, fittings, grab bar and vanity and check every joint.
The result
A walk-in shower that drains properly, is sealed where it needs to be, and has a grab bar that will hold weight.
