BROOKLAND
Home Repair & Contractor Services

The students move in in August and the house isn't ready. In Brookland we turn rentals before fall, rebuild early 1900s houses after water and refit shops on 12th Street NE.

Brookland Is a Campus Neighborhood

Brookland grew up around the Catholic University of America and the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. People still call it Little Rome for all the religious houses nearby.

Campus life means rentals, and rentals mean turnovers. The detached frame houses and bungalows here are older than most of what students rent elsewhere.

The local concept

Campus-Edge Rentals

Campus-edge rentals are the houses near Catholic University and Brookland-CUA station that rent to students, faculty and staff.

Leases follow the school year, so many come back at once in late spring and need work before the next group arrives in August.

The jobs we get from Brookland

Student houses before fall

Brookland rentals get painted, patched, refloored where needed and refitted, and the punch list gets cleared before the August move-in.

Old houses after water

Brookland has many early 1900s houses. When water gets into one, the wet plaster or drywall comes out, the framing dries and the rooms go back together.

Insurance Reconstruction →

Shops on 12th Street

Restaurants and shops on 12th Street NE and at Monroe Street Market change tenants. Each space is rebuilt to the new tenant's plan, trades included.
