Drywall Installation in Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia
New walls and ceilings hung, taped, mudded and finished by the crew that does this every day. Residential additions and basements, gut renovations, and commercial partitions over wood or metal studs.
What Drywall Installation Includes
A drywall install is four jobs in one: getting the right board on the wall, fastening it correctly, finishing the joints so they disappear, and leaving the surface ready for the painter. We do all four.
- New-construction hang and finish
- Additions, basements and bonus rooms
- Metal-stud commercial partitions
- Fire-rated and sound-rated assemblies
- Moisture-resistant board in wet areas
- Level 1 through Level 5 finishing
- Ceiling board and soffits
Board Selection
Standard, moisture-resistant, mold-resistant, fire-rated (Type X) and sound-rated board, chosen for the room and the assembly the plans call for. Wrong board in a wet or rated wall is a failure waiting to happen.
Hanging
Sheets laid out to minimize butt joints, fastened on the correct spacing for wood or metal framing, with cutouts made tight to boxes, cans and registers.
Taping and Mudding
Tape, fill and finish coats with sanding between, plus corner bead set straight so corners stay crisp and seams do not telegraph through the paint.
Finish Levels
Level 4 for most painted walls, Level 5 skim coat where gloss paint or strong side light will show every imperfection, and Level 1 or 2 where board is going behind tile or above a ceiling.
Ceilings and Soffits
Ceiling board, drops, soffits and bulkheads, including the framing when the layout needs it.
Commercial Partitions
Metal-stud framing and drywall for tenant build-outs, offices, retail and multifamily, on a commercial schedule and to the fire and sound ratings in the drawings.

Installation Problems We Get Called In to Prevent
The failures that show up months later, and what avoids them.
Butt Joints Down the Middle of a Wall
Bad sheet layout leaves a long, hard-to-hide seam in the most visible part of the room. We plan the layout first so joints land where they can be feathered out.
Wrong Board in the Wrong Room
Standard board in a shower surround or a missing Type X sheet in a rated wall fails inspection at best and fails the building at worst. We install what the assembly requires.
Finish That Cannot Take the Paint
A Level 4 wall under gloss paint or a big window shows every seam. We agree on the finish level up front, based on the light and the paint.
